Graduation Ceremony

“Everybody listen up”, said the dean, as we were all in a group waiting to hear what was next on our road to graduation. It was the afternoon of March 19,2010, the day of our commencement ceremony.  After four years of struggle to learn and expand my knowledge on my chosen profession, I will be marching to the end of my college life and beginning to walk to start a new chapter in my life. Once our class lined up a single file line, we were allowed to enter the floor, where all our assigned seats were located. There up against the wall was a list of all the names of the students, and next to the names where letters of where each person was allowed to sit.
When you look around the halls and saw all the pink and black graduation outfits and you saw the students’ faces. At commencement you wear your square-shaped mortarboards.  You could see what is going on in their heads. Most of them were full of nervousness and anxiety. Then their were the kids who were just thinking about the parties afterwards and didn’t care about graduating. I, on the other hand was just relieved that I made it threw these last four years smoothly without any major road humps even the speed bumps at St. Paul University Manila were ridiculously high.“This is it!” We all started to walk down the little lines marked off with tape as to where we were supposed to go and stop. Family and friends were taking pictures like we were a famous celebrity of some sort.

There is a good reason they call these ceremonies "commencement exercises." Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning.  Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning.  I am educated. I have certification that is in my degree. You may think of it as the ticket to the good life.

An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.  What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own.And you know what you know. You are the one who'll decide where to go.
